Back Strengthening Exercises

Your back muscles are the spine’s main defense against gravity. Strengthening the muscles supporting the spine can prevent, reduce and even eliminate back pain. Strong abdominal muscles (especially the deep abdominal) is equally crucial to support the lower back and prevent back pain. Strong quadriceps (front thigh muscles) is important in preventing back injuries while lifting. Proper lifting techniques involve using your legs; if your legs are weak, you end up with more back pain.
